MOSCOW, July 17
lthough many Russians have not yet grown accustomed to GPRS and EDGE for mobile services and Wi-Fi and ADSL for Internet access, all these abbreviations and technologies might be soon replaced by a single one - WiMAX. Several Russian companies already offer WiMAX services and more are planning to roll out WiMAX but how fast this service will develop is not yet clear.
Enforta brand, said it had completed the first stage of WiMAX technology development by creating WiMAX networks in 15 cities. By the end of 2007 the company plans to build the networks in 14 more cities. Prestige-Internet, founded in 2003, is 100% controlled by the Netherlands' Enforta BV.
