InfiNet Wireless Announces FCC Approval of 5.8 GHz Broadband Wireless Products

United States28 February 2006

Leading Eastern European Vendor Enters US Market With 5000 Series Broadband Wireless Line and Successful US Trial Deployment

InfiNet Wireless, a global provider of Broadband Wireless Access and pre-WiMAX equipment for last mile connectivity for private and public networks, announced today that its 5000 Series broadband wireless product family for the 5.8 GHz spectrum has received FCC approval in the United States. An emerging player in the WiMAX market, InfiNet Wireless also plans to be one of the first companies in the world to introduce 5.8 GHz WiMAX-certified products later this year.

InfiNet Wireless designed the 5.8 GHz 5000 Series for the rapidly growing segment of alternative carriers and wireless internet service providers (WISPs) that are expanding operations into smaller cities, towns and rural areas across the United States. Hundreds of service providers in global markets have already used pre-WiMAX OFDM-based routers from InfiNet Wireless to expand beyond large cities into residential neighborhoods and rural areas to offer triple play multi-services.

"InfiNet's 5000 Series is one of the only end-to-end IP-based systems available to ISP and telecommunications carriers today," said Will Strauss, president and principal analyst of Forward Concepts. "This will offer an important, cost effective solution for providing broadband wireless access to the many under serviced rural areas across the country."

NXCONN Wireless, a communications service provider for business, education, and residential customers in the Nassau County, New York City and South Florida areas, has completed a successful trial deployment using InfiNet's 5.8 GHz equipment to provide wireless access to New York's Fire Island, spanning a distance of nearly 20 miles with a 14 mbps throughput rate. NXCONN was able to set the link up in just two days, and notebook users are able to obtain a wireless signal in any location throughout the island.

"InfiNet Wireless equipment offers speeds that are truly unparalleled in the industry, and the quality surpasses that of any product we have seen currently on the market," said Wayne Forman, vice president of NXCONN Wireless. "It is easy to both manage and implement, and InfiNet offers superior technical knowledge and customer support."

The InfiNet Wireless 5000 Series offers a unique combination of low start-up cost, reliability and scalability. By using a multi-functional flexible platform, the 5000 Series ensures maximum scalability across the entire network with low capital expenditure costs, which equates to a very favorable return on investment for ISP and telecommunications carriers. All 5000 Series devices can be used as a base station, relay station or CPE, and are easily interchangeable as the network expands.

In related news, InfiNet Wireless recently announced the FCC approval of its 4.9GHz broadband wireless router family of products for the North American public safety market, and a strategic partnership with Continental Wireless, a value added retailer (VAR) and systems integrator of broadband wireless and public safety radio systems.
