Live Demonstration Will be Co-Located with Presentation by Riverside California CIO, Steve Reneker
The Public Safety Broadband Consortium, a group that includes InfiNet Wireless, Lockheed Martin Information Technology, Public Safety Broadband, Radio IP Software and Wi-Fi Citywide, will host The Broadband Wireless Conference for Public Safety and Public Access in Riverside, California on November 8, 2006. The event – considered a ‘must-attend’ for public safety officials, municipal IT professionals, technology end-users, wireless service providers, system integrators, dealers and consultants – will feature a live demonstration of an integrated 4.9 GHz Public Safety / 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Public Access network, using cutting edge equipment supplied by members of the Consortium.
The Broadband Wireless Conference for Public Safety and Public Access is targeted at individuals responsible for planning, purchasing, and implementing their city’s future wireless networks. The event will include a presentation by Steve Reneker, CIO of Riverside, describing issues encountered in his city’s wireless roll-out project. Additionally, The Broadband Wireless Conference will feature exhibits, presentations from municipal leaders and panel discussions on the topics of public safety broadband, Wi-Fi public access, security and surveillance.
The Public Safety Broadband Consortium also recently participated in the Los Angeles Sheriff Department Vehicle Test Day on October 26th, 2006. The live demonstration featured Lockheed Martin’s In-Car Mobile Mesh Digital Video solution, using Insight Video net software and InfiNet Wireless 4.9 GHz mesh routers in four state of the art police vehicles; a Ford Crown Victoria Police interceptor, Dodge Charger, Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Tahoe E-85. The Mobile Mesh Digital Video solution forms an instant mobile mesh network for peer-to peer networking, allowing first responders to spontaneously form an ad-hoc broadband network at the scene of an evolving incident. Once enabled, several incident scene management applications including live, streaming video between mobile vehicles may be instantaneously utilized. The four vehicles traveled the course at speeds in excess of 100 mph, with each car driving 32 laps around the high speed test course.
There were over 500 attendees at this year’s LASD Vehicle Test Day from several police agencies around the country. The complete 1.57 mile test track was covered using only two 4.9 GHz routers from InfiNet Wireless, and the video was streamed from the cars at 30 fps to a 60 inch plasma screen in the viewing tent. Additional information from The Los Angles Sheriff's Department vehicle testing and the full reports will be posted on the Justice Technology Information Network (JUSTNET) as they become available.
