Quality-of-Service
General description
Quality of Service is a common name of the technologies that ensures the quality of data transmission networks. The main reason to do that is inability of network data transmission mediums to deliver all data simultaneously. Thereof some data packets have to wait until other ones will be transferred. InfiNet Wireless Quality-of-Service is the ultimate way that allows taking control of that process.
Why Quality-of-Service is necessary?
By using built-in Quality-of-Service features in InfiNet Wireless equipment, the operator is able to provide the following services to the customer:
- Limited performance
- Enable various priorities throughout the network
- Serving VIP-clients
- Implementing different tariff plans
- Enhanced support for media applications
InfiNet Wireless solution
InfiNet Wireless offers a unique and complete Quality-of-Service solution that allows advance traffic management. The core element of it is QoS manager is a convenient and flexible mechanism to manipulate data streams going through the unit. The user can create up to 16 logical channels characterized by different properties (such as priority levels and data transfer rates), and then assign data streams to these logical channels according to special rules of assignment. Packets going through different channels are thus modifying their own properties as well as properties of their respective data flows. Moreover, each packet that comes from another network with established QoS (ToS/DSCP, 802.1p, VLAN) will be served according to its QoS settings because InfiNet Wireless transparent traffic prioritization supports most common network quality standards. It automatically configures own QoS parameters for the packet base on original ones.
How QoS is used in InfiNet Wireless devices?
- Traffic shaping. Redistribution of available bandwidth between different clients
- Traffic prioritization. Time-sensitive traffic prioritization and providing one clients with better service than others
- Traffic redirection
